Abstract: With respect to the emergence of multiple standards and innovative technologies for wireless communication, wherein radio signal should be encoded by a predefined modulation scheme according to the specification of the transmission channel, spectrum analysis through the models of signal classification and modulation recognition plays a vital role in massive wireless communication systems like fifth generation (5G). Automatic modulation classification (AMC), which aims to blindly identify the modulation type of an incoming signal at the receiver in wireless communication systems, is a fundamental signal processing technique in the physical layer to improve spectrum utilization efficiency. Motivated by deep learning (DL) high-impact success in many informatics domains, including radio signal processing for communications, numerous recent AMC methods exploiting deep networks have been proposed to overcome the existing drawbacks of traditional approaches. DL can learn the underlying characteristics of radio signals effectively for modulation pattern recognition, which improves the modulation classification performance under the presence of channel impairments. This talk provides the fundamental concepts of various architectures, such as neural networks, recurrent neural networks, long short-term memory, and convolutional neural networks as the necessary background. Then a comprehensive study of DL for AMC in wireless communications is conveyed, where technical analysis is deliberated from the perspective of state-of-the-art deep architectures. Remarkably, several sophisticated structures and advanced designs of convolutional neural networks are investigated for different data types of sequential radio signals, spectrum images, and constellation images to deal with various channel impairments.

Thông tin về Tiến sĩ Huỳnh Thế Thiện: 
Thien Huynh-The received a B.S. degree in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering and an M.Sc. degree in Electronics Engineering from Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education, Vietnam, in 2011 and 2013, respectively, and a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Kyung Hee University (KHU), South Korea, in 2018. He was a recipient of the Superior Thesis Prize awarded by KHU. From March 2018 to August 2018, he was a Postdoctoral Researcher with the Ubiquitous Computing Laboratory, KHU. From September 2018 to May 2022, he was a Postdoctoral Researcher with the ICT Convergence Research Center, Kumoh National Institute of Technology, South Korea. He is currently a Lecturer in the Department of Computer and Communication Engineering at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education (HCMUTE), Vietnam. He was a recipient of the Golden Globe Award 2020 for Vietnamese Young Scientists by Central Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union associated with the Ministry of Science and Technology.
