Summer School on Statistics (HCMC, 14/7 - 5/8/2014)
During the Summer of 2014 HCMUS together with the French universities of Toulouse and Bordeaux will organize Summer School from 14-7 to 5-8/2014. This summer school includes 5 courses on modern statistics:
  • “Unidimensional and multivariate time series analysis with applications”

  •  “Introduction to particle methods and importance sampling”

  •  “Sensitivity analysis and model reduction for computer experiments”

  •  “Discrete and continuous martingales with statistical applications”

  •  “Introduction à la sélection de modèles”

Each course will be instructed by two French professors.

This is a draft program for the Summer School

Seminar: Resonance behavior of electric fields in a medium made of negative index materials (20/1)

Resonance behavior of electric fields in a medium made of negative index materials
Speaker: NGUYỄN HOÀNG LỘC, Mathematics Section, École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, Thụy Sỹ

Time: 8.30 - 9.30 Monday 20/01/2014
Room:  F207

Abstract: The aim of this talk is to study non-coercive partial differential equations, arising from the study of media made of both positive and negative index materials. We pay attention to the resonance behavior of solutions to the equations above and prove that this behavior strongly depends on the geometry of the structure.

This is the joint work with  Professor Nguyễn Hoài Minh.
